Network Settings

Before you start to configure your SIP or other settings make sure that your Network Settings are correct. You can't do much with the WIP330 until it is recognised and assigned an IP number on your wireless network.

From the handset menu (
Menu/Network Settings) use DHCP. This will allow your phone to receive an automatic IP number from your router. In some cases, particularly if you are having trouble forwarding the ports properly, you may need to change to a manually assigned one at this screen. This means the phone will always receive the same number and will refuse to accept any other. You must give his same number to the WIP330 in your router settings also.

You should be able to see the name of your network on the left of your WIP330 screen if it has received an IP number.
Menu/Information on your WIP330 will show your your network IP number.

Try using the WIP330 browser to view some websites. This will confirm you are on the internet but will not necessarily mean all the correct ports are forwarded. To use the configuartion in the example SIP Settings on the next page, you should forward ports 5060, 5004, 1000. These are the commonly used ports for SIP but your own SIP provider may use different ones, check carefully that the correct ports are used and that your router is properly set up to forward them.

Online Router help
If you are having problems setting up your router I suggest you go here. This website has walk through guides for forwarding ports on hundreds of different routers and also offers an application, PFConfig, which will set up your router for you.

-----------------------------------
I have several networks or Access Points, why does the WIP330 not choose the best one?

Bad news.
The WIP330 does not support roaming. It will not automatically change from one Access Point to another in the way a mobile phone does. You will have to select Menu/wireless/Set Wifi on the handset and choose the AP you want. At boot up the WIP330 will scroll through the list of saved wifi profiles and choose the first on the list it can connect to. You can determine the order of the profiles list. If no profiles are saved or none will work it will display a screen of available networks.
